The High Court has stayed for three months construction on Lalbagh's Amoligola ground, once used as a children's park.
The bench of justices A H M Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain issued the order in response to a petition filed by a local, Reaz Uddin, on Sunday.
The Court simultaneously gave the government three weeks to answer why the installations on the ground would not be evicted.
Petitioner's lawyer Manzil Morshed told bdnews24.com that the ground is used for Eid prayers. It was once a Shishu (children) Park. "But constructions are underway there."
"Nothing can be constructed on the ground during the stay," the lawyer added.
