Asim files contempt petition against airport immigration personnel

Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim, human rights affairs secretary of BNP, on Monday (June 20) filed a petition in the High Court for drawing a contempt of court charge against immigration personnel at the Shahjalal International Airport and others as he was barred from going abroad despite court clearance.

A day before, on Sunday, Asim and members of his family were prevented from flying to London by the immigration personnel.

Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), and Immigration personnel at the Shahjalal International Airport made respondents in the petition.

Talking to UNB over cell phone, Asim said that the matter would come up on Tuesday’s cause list for hearing.
