SQ to be produced before ICT tomorrow

BLHouse Report

BNP standing committee member Salauddin Quader Chowdhury is likely to be produced before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) tomorrow (December 30).

Earlier on December 19, the ICT issued a 'production warrant' directing the authorities to produce SQ Chowdhury before it tomorrow.

The Tribunal also issued warrant of arrest against him in a case filed on charge of committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

Later, Chowdhury was shown arrested following the Tribunal's order as police had arrested him earlier on December 16 in another case of burning a car and killing the car's driver on June 26 at Magbazar in the city.

The ICT orders followed a petition filed by the investigation agency seeking the Tribunals' arrest warrant against Chowdhury..

For delivering the orders, the Tribunal mentioned some reasons that include the interviews given by SQ Chowdhury in print and electronic media created unhealthy atmosphere in the mind of witnesses, who have already given statements against him.
