Kamrangirchar OC kept standing before court for 7 hrs

The High Court yesterday kept Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamrangirchar police station standing in the courtroom for about five hours for his 'distorted' comment regarding amputation of a child and negligence to court's order.

Earlier on Sunday, the HC directed the OC, Shafiqul Islam Shikdar, to physically appear before it yesterday (Monday).

A bench of the HC comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain also directed the police authorities to inform it within seven days that what steps have been taken against the OC for his ‘negligence’ to protect Neyamul, 7, whose different organs were chopped off by miscreants for forcibly engaging him into street begging.

On Sunday Deputy Attorney General ABM Altaf Hossain drew attention of the HC to a OC's distorted comment published in an English daily that two associates of Neyamul have cut off its organs.

On January 9, Neyamul placed statement to the HC judges saying that Khandker Omar Faruq and Shariful Islam Korban, members of a gang, cut off its organs including penis.

Advocate Yusuf Humayun appeared for Shafiqul while DAG ABM Altaf Hossain for the government.
