JU Admission Test: Restriction on madrasa students goes

Madrasa students can take admission tests for 'Kha' and 'Ga' units' in Jahangirnagar University (JU), according to a High Court verdict.

The HC yesterday (December 8) declared illegal the preconditions issued by the JU authorities restricting the Madrasa students to appear for its 'Kha' and 'Ga' units' admission tests.

The HC bench of Justice MA Wahhab Miah and Justice M Khasruzzaman came up with the verdict following a writ petition filed by three Madrasa students challenging the JU authorities' decision to impose the preconditions.

Petitioners' lawyer Barrister Emran Siddiq told The Daily Star yesterday that there was no legal bar for Madrasa students, who passed Alim, to participate in the admission tests in JU following the HC verdict. View it in main newspaper
