The Bangladesh High Court (HC) on October 28 directed the government not to restrict Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), to go abroad.
The HC passed the order following a Writ petition filed by Khandker Mahbub, also an advisor to the opposition BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, seeking the court's directive upon the government to allow him to go abroad.
A bench of the HC comprising Justice MA Wahab Mia and Justice Quazi Reaza-ul-Hoque passed the order.
Khandaker Mahbub Hossain filed the Writ petition apprehending that he would be restricted to leave the country, as a newspaper in September this year published a news item in this regard.
The news report stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs had made a list of 70 persons, who are opposition political minded, including the SCBA President. They would be restricted to leave the county.
