Quize Duke at jail gate: HC
The High Court yesterday (December 6) directed the government to interrogate Saiful Islam Duke, nephew of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, at the jail gate or in presence of his lawyers if he is placed on remand in August 21 grenade attack case.
A division bench comprising Justice Md Mifta Uddin Choudhury and Justice Md Abdul Hye passed the order following a writ petition filed by Duke's father Rafiqul Islam.
Rafiqul recently filed the petition with the HC seeking the directives on government, so that his son is interrogated at the jail gate or in presence of his lawyers if he is placed on remand further in the August 21 grenade attack case.
He stated in the petition that Duke was quizzed for eight days on remand in three phases in this case, and he was seriously tortured.
The petitioner said he is apprehending that Duke can be placed on remand further in the same case
