Both pro- and anti-government lawyers of the Supreme Court have declared programmes and counter programmes over the chief justice's court.
The pro-opposition lawyers announced on Wednesday that they would boycott the chief justice's court on Thursday from 9am to 10am.

Rejecting the boycott programme, the pro-government lawyers said they would join the court.

At a press conference arranged under the banner of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association's (BSCBA) banner on Wednesday noon, the pro-opposition lawyers declared that they would hold a sit-in programme in front of the Supreme Court.

BSCBA president Khandker Mahbub Hossain and Moudud Ahmed were, among others, present at the press conference.

Later in the day, the pro-government lawyers rejected the programme at another press meet arranged under the same BSCBA banner.

Former BSCBA president Amirul Islam said, "Following the association's traditions, the president discusses with the chief justice any complaints they might have about the bench structure.

"But the current president is trying to tarnish the highest court's image by not following the tradition."

Attorney general Mahbubey Alam was present at the press conference.
