People now can SC cases' info by SMS

BL House Report

From now on, anyone can know about update cases filed with the Supreme Court (SC) by sending SMS over mobile phone.

To get the service, case number (such as SC Criminal Mis 29687/2010) has to be sent to '2233' from any mobile phone. Thereafter, the automated system will send the relevant cases' information back to the user.

The Supreme Court has launched the service on Thursday.

An agreement to his effect was signed between the SC and Inforev Limited with the support of UNDP. SC's Registrar Md Ashraful Islam and Inforev's CEO Sattar Mujtaba signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque and UNDP Country Director Stefan Priesner were present at the signing ceremony, which was presided over by Chairman of Special Committee for Juridical Reforms and Appellate Division Justice Md Imman Ali.

For the present, the people will get information of the cases filed on and after May 2 this year.

Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque said that lack of update information about the cases was one of the main reasons behind delaying disposal of cases. "Those, who don't know information, are in dark."

With the initiative, the people can get more information and the disposal of cases will be accelerated. "Information is the key to solving problems," he noted.
